|Birth: ||Aug. 10, 1848, At Sea|
|Death: ||Oct. 31, 1928|
John B Scholte was born at sea while immigrating with his parents from Germany. His parents were Johann C Scholta/Scholte and Angel Maria Jansenn.
In 1875, John married Mary Elizabeth Eby in Canada. They had eight children, three of whom died in childhood. The (known) children were : Anna Fredericke Scholte; Elsie Elizabeth Scholte; John B Scholte Jr.(died in infancy ); Frederick William Scholte (my G grandfather); Alice Scholte and Milford Scholte.
John B Scholte worked as a carpenter and later as a "dyer" in a factory in Sheboygan. He and his family moved to Langdon, North Dakota in about 1887 (his wife's parents lived there). In 1893 his parents- in- law both died; apparently of some illness or epidemic. By 1900, John and Mary Elizabeth were living in Sheboygan, Wisconsin with their son, Frederick William Scholte and his family. John B Scholte died October 31, 1928. He is buried in Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan, Wisconsin next to his wife Mary Elizabeth Eby Scholte and his son Milford Scholte.
NOTE*** Similar to his wife, Mary Elizabeth Eby Scholte, the gravestone unfortunately lists the wrong date of birth. John B Scholte was born August 10, 1848 according to family and census records. The obituary at right also incorrectly refers to him as "Fred Scholte". Fred scholte was my great grandfather and John B Scholte's son.***
