BANGS -- William Dean Bangs. at Geneva, Ill., Nov. 9, 1930; husband of Sophia Wilhelmine (Lily/Lee) Zimmermann and father of William Dean Jr., Katharine, Robert , and Sarah. Funeral at his late home Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 11:45 a. m. Special car will be attached to Chicago and North Western train leaving Chicago, at 10:25 returning from Geneva at 1"15. Burial private. WILLIAM DEAN BANGS, ATTORNEY TAKEN BY DEATH
Attorney William Dean Bangs, 45 years old, general counsel for the Illinois Bell Telephone company, died yesterday at his Geneva, Ill. home of heart disease, believed to have been super induced by nervous indigestion, The funeral will be held tomorrow morning from the home, with burial at Oak Hill cemetery at Geneva.
Mr. Bangs had been a member of the law firm of Cutting, Moore & Sidley, 11 South La Salle street, since 1918. He had been associated with the telephone company since 1922. Although born in St. Louis, he had lived in Chicago practically all his life. He was graduated from Princeton University in 1907 and from the Harvard University law school in 1910. He was admitted to the Illinois bar in that year.
Surviving him are the widow, Mrs. Lee Zimmermann Bangs; two sons, William Dean Jr. and Robert, and two daughters, Sarah and Katherine. Mr. Bangs was a descendant of Edward Bangs, who came to America in 1623 on the schooner Anne, the third ship to arrive after the Mayflower.
