Widower with seven children came from Norwich, England about 1835; settled in Madoc Twp., Hastings Co. Married Hannah Flogdale around 1820, and together they had 8 children. She died in childbirth with Hannah, their last child together. Married Julianna Remington in 1843, and had two children with her. Died while on his way home carrying a Christmas goose under his arm in Madoc, Ontario, of a sudden heart attack. Upon his death there was a squabble over who should be entitled to his estate. Charles Wesley saw to it that his mom got the estate. This may have caused a family split which drove some children to America while others stayed in Canada, moving N. & W. towards the Vancouver, BC area. He farmed out several children to other families, and they were raised there.
