Patsy Jean White, aged 74 years, passed away peacefully at home in Greenville, Texas, Thursday, January 9, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Patsy was born at home in Cash, Texas December 23, 1939, along with her twin brother. The youngest of seven children, she grew up on her parents' farm with various pets and the doting attention of her older siblings, graduating from Quinlan High School in 1958.
Her youth was marked by numerous achievements in the realm of Home Economics, and she proudly demonstrated these skills throughout her life, teaching all her children how to cook and keep an excellent home. Patsy's kindness and compassion were boundless, and she fed all who came to her door.
In 2009 she celebrated 50 years of marriage with the love of her life, Derrell White, in a much-anticipated and joyful family gathering. Derrell and Patsy met at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in the spring of 1959, and married on December 5 of that year. She was a long-standing member of Mt. Zion.
Patsy and Derrell resided in several Texas towns throughout the years, including McLeod and Commerce, finally settling in Greenville in 1967. Patsy devoted her considerable talents and ingenuity to raising a large family, never ceasing in her ability to surprise and delight her children with special gifts and attention. She instilled in them her strong sense of right and wrong, informed by her staunch beliefs and indomitable character. In her later years, when physical frailty became a part of her daily life, she persevered with uncommon strength and determination.
Patsy was a guiding light of love and her passing leaves an empty space in the world which only time can heal. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Derrell White, twin brother Durrell Williams and wife Linda, sister Dorthey Crawford, children Mary Alice Beste, Sherri White Cook and husband Thomas H.
