Godfrey Barrett of Pana, former resident of Decatur, died suddenly Saturday morning after he had collapsed on the street at the corner of Water & William streets. He was taken to St. Mary's hospital where it was learned that he had suffered a heart attack. The body was taken to Moran & Sons funeral home.
Mr. Barrett had spent the last 3 months with his daughter, Mrs. Mary Blankenship, 821 N. Edward St. He was born in Litchfield, 09Jan1862 & had lived in Decatur 15 years before mvoing to Pana. He was married in 1889 to Miss Ella M. Stout of Jacksonville, IL.
Mr. Barrett leaves the following children: George M. of Springfield; Grover C. Barrett, Mrs. Mary Blankenship & Mrs. Bessie Wright of Decatur; Grace E. Barrett of Aurora & Arthur Barrett of Clinton. Nine grandchildren & a sister, Mrs. Ada Bogaske of Springfield, survive. Definite funeral arrangements have not been completed.

The body of Godfrey Barrett was taken to Aurora Monday afternoon, following services at the Moran & Sons chapel. Services will also be held in Aurora at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
