Col. Charles Frederick Beegle (b 1801)and first wife Susanna Margaret Zimmers were originally buried in the Reformed Church cemetery in Bedford. This cemetery was severely damaged during the first Johnstown flood. Thankfully, some of the stones were gathered, recorded and stored in a shed by the Rev. Willima Filler Lutz. Later these stones were moved to and planted in the Union church cemetery.
Col. Beegle seven children with Susannah Zimmers and five children with Matilda Ditmore. Matilda remaried George Stoudnour and is buried in Bedford Cemetery.
