Passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Wayne was born June 27, 1945 in Bismarck, ND, the son of Arthur and Margaret (Kerzman) Brigman. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1963 and served in the United States Marine Reserve. After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1970 with his BBA, he worked for the Delmonte Company. He then joined the Kalamazoo Police Department and worked for 26 years, retiring in 1996. Following his time with KPD, he joined the Kalamazoo County Medical Examiners Department as an investigator, a position he held until earlier this year. Wayne was an active member of the Fraternal order of Police, the Elks, where he served as an Exalted Ruler and Treasurer and many other organizations. On July 14, 1967, he married Sandra Cook, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Karen Brigman of Ft. Collins, CO and Timothy (Michelle) Brigman of Kalamazoo; his mother, Margaret Brigman of Kalamazoo; sisters, Merita (Dan) Gabriel and Marilyn (Larry) Schutz; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brigman; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Mark. Wayne was absolutely one of a kind! He loved his family, friends and life full heartedly. Wayne was a loyal and loving husband, father and friend who will always be remembered and never be forgotten. His smile and laughter will live on in our hearts and memories forever. We love you Wayne and you will truly be missed. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3826 S. 9th St., with Rev. James Dyke and Deacon James Nelson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-7 PM. The family invites friends to bring a photo of Wayne to share with everyone. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the FOP Lodge 98 of Kalamazoo or the Elks Lodge 1248 of Three Rivers.
