Louise Alford, 90, passed away Saturday, Aug 18, 2012 in Leavenworth, KS. She was born Feb 6, 1922, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Wilhelm and Louisa (Mills) Cordt. On June 28, 1947, she married John W. Alford in Leavenworth, KS. He preceded her in death on Feb 14, 1987. She was also preceded in death by brothers Willie, Charlie and Richard Cordt and sisters Christine Summers and Bertha Sammons. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Pete) Kaeding, Leavenworth, and one brother, Walter (Betty) Cordt. She is also survived by her grandsons Clint (Katy) Kaeding and their three children Charlie, Scarlett and Danny all of Overland Park, and Brock Kaeding, of Leavenworth, and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was retired from the Ft. Leavenworth Child Care Center where she worked for 15 years. She also volunteered for years at Cushing and St. John Hospitals, Trinity Lutheran Church pantry and the Leavenworth election boards. Her happiest years were being a wife and mother, and her favorite times were when surrounded by her family. In recent years she had traveled, shopped and just "hung out" with her only daughter and best friend, Sandy. Though preceded in death by many of her family and friends, she leaves behind many other wonderful friends and parishioners from Trinity Lutheran Church. She will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her, but was blessed with over 90 years to enjoy those in her life who care so much for her.
Visitation was at Trinity Lutheran Church at 12:00 noon on Monday, Aug 20, with service that followed at 1:00 PM. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery immediately after the service. The family requests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Crossroads Hospice.
