A young Doris found an interest in art which she developed to some degree. Even without formal training, Doris showed considerable talent with her paintings but never fully pursued those talents after marrying Paul John Remusat on June 15, 1920 and starting a family. A Toledo citizen, his career with the railroad brought him through Fostoria on a regular basis. With Paul being a member of the Shriners, he and Doris were able to take advantage of the Zenobia Shrine's North American pilgrimage tour to embark on an extended honeymoon throughout Canada and the American west during the summer of 1920.
Doris was a graduate of Seneca High School and attended the Heidelberg Commerce College in Tiffin, where she studied business and stenography.
She and Paul moved to Toledo where they brought up a family that included five children, Jean (1922 - 2015), Ray (1925 - 2007), Marveline (1926 - 2012), Onalee (1929 - 2015), and Beverly. Paul retired in 1956, allowing them more time to do what they loved best: travel. Throughout their lives, Doris and Paul managed to visit every state of the union with the exception of Alaska.
Doris passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Toledo on October 11, 1977, at the age of seventy-eight. Paul died three years later, in 1980.
