FLORIS MAXINE (FLOSSIE) SNYDER
Floris Maxine Reuter (Flossie) was born Nov. 8, 1921, near Millerton, Iowa, in Wayne County to Hazel and Oscar Reuter. She passed away Sept. 30, 2011, with liver and kidney failure at the Hospice of Arizona facility in Phoenix, Ariz., at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 22 days.

She was baptized in the Baptist Church in Cambria at an early age and was a very active member of the church her entire life. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the church.
She attended school in Cambria and graduated high school in 1939. On Oct. 3, 1945, George Wesley (Jack) Snyder and Floris Maxine Reuter were married and to this union two children were born, Mavis Joan and Mark Douglas. She lived most of her life in Cambria except for a few brief months spent in Illinois where Jack had accepted a new job; but they loved and missed their friends too much
and moved back to Cambria.

Jack and Flossie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in California with Joan and Mark and family, who hosted a card shower for them and celebrated 50 years of happy memories.
She was one of the cooks at the Cambria grade school for many years and loved serving the lunches to all of the children at school. She spent many happy hours working with her beautiful flowers and garden. At 89 years old, she still had a beautiful flower garden.
A few years ago, Flossie's picture was in the Times-Republican newspaper when Santa came to Street's Trading Post in Cambria. Everyone wondered if that was the real Mrs. Claus, but only Flossie knew for sure. Flossie and Jack were also named Wayne Community School Grand Marshals of the homecoming parade and Good
Neighbors of the Month for July. So many people loved them both. Whenever the Falcons played, they were always there to cheer on their teams. She spent her entire life heavily involved in church and community activities. Her husband, Jack and parents, Hazel and Oscar; preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Joan and grandson, Chad of Sun City, Ariz.; son, Mark and wife Kerry; granddaughter, Danielle; grandson, Alex of Glendale, Ariz.; sister, Phyllis Corral of Tulsa, Okla., niece, Lisa Tremaine; nephews, Dr. David Corral and John Corral and families; sister, Ferma Byers of Sealy, Texas; nieces, Cheri Vande Vorde and husband Richard, Traci and Tim and
families, Vicky Harris and husband David, Ryan and many friends and family. A memorial service was held at the Cambria Baptist Church on Oct. 15 with Pastor Steve Larson officiating and David Harris reading the obituary.

Musical selections were "Softly and Tenderly," and "Victory in Jesus" by the congregation and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" by vocalist Dr. Jim Sandy.Interment was in the Kirby Cemetery of rural Cambria.
