A Revolutionary War veteran, Joseph Collard was killed at Woods Fort (now Troy), Lincoln County, MO in 1812 at the start of the Indian wars and War of 1812.

Children of Joseph and Margaret (Lewis?) Collard are Abigail, Elijah, Charles, John, Margaret (Peggy), Joseph, James and Mary. There is another possible son, Isaac Newton Collard, who is believed to have been the second husband of his brother John's widow, Lydia Cannon Collard.
