Mary Cook and John Gray were married sometime around 1810 and lived near Topsham, Maine. They had ten (10) children together (Eliza, Solomon, Mary J, Lucy T, Daniel, Rebecca, John H, James, Charles, and Albert TW. Most of the children were born at either Topsham or Brunswick, Maine. Later the family moved to Piscataquis County, Maine near Williamsburg. In the mid-1850s, most of the family moved to Minnesota and lived in Hennepin County there.
Two of their children, Eliza at age 16, and Rebecca at age 3, died while they were still in Maine. The youngest son, Albert, died near Boston at age 20.
Two of their sons, James and Charles, moved to the country of Peru and lived there for a number of years. Both married ladies from Peru and had families there.
Mary Cook Gray and her husband, John, were both originally buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That cemetery was eventually abandoned and turned into a park. Their bodies were moved to Lakewood Cemetery. Most of their family is buried near them there.
Mary Cook was born in Massachusetts in Hingham, and was the daughter of John Cook. She had a least one sister, Lucy, who married Burt Townsend of Brunswick, Maine.
