Lydia C Ripley was one of seven children born to Joseph Ripley and Anna Boomer. She was born in Jefferson County, New York and it may have been on Grenadier Island where the family were squatters for awhile.
She was the only child of the seven to stay in Carroll County, Illinois. All four of her brothers were in the Civil War during that time period, and one died during his service.
