KAYSVILLE--David Jay Ball, 51, beloved by all who knew him, passed away at his home on July 14, 1999 after a brief battle with melanoma cancer. David was born September 16, 1947 to Archie Ball and Ida Mae Kirtland in Rigby, Idaho. He was raised in Minidoka Dam and Burley, Idaho and graduated Burley High School and Weber State College. He served an LDS mission in the British North Mission. He married his eternal companion, Eileen Leatham, on February 28, 1969 in the Logan Temple.He loved the gospel and served faithfully in many capacities. He served as a counselor in the bishoprics of the Farr West 2nd Ward and the Kaysville 2nd Ward. He served on the Plain City Stake High Council and loved his callings working with youth and children in scouting and primary. David served his community, state and country with pride. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was involved in city government in Farr West where he served on the Planning Commission, serving two years as president. He recently served on the State Foster Care Citizen Review Board. Dave loved his career of 25 years in law enforcement, 18 as a trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol, the last seven years with the Department of Public Safety in Internal Affairs and POST. He has received many honors including Trooper of the Year in 1991. He served as UHPA president and was also involved with the Hope Project. Dave and Eileen have three daughters, Kimberly (Kenneth) Nay, American Fork; Marcie Ball, Kaysville; Melanie (Cary) Sanders, Logan. They have three grandchildren, whom he adored, Kaycee and Kolten Nay, and McKenzie Sanders. Survivors also include his parents of Burley, Idaho; brother, Robert E. Ball, Forest Grove, Oregon; and two sisters, Barbara Patton, Boise, Idaho and Rose Draper, Burley, Idaho. Dad, we love you. Thank you for being the greatest husband, father, grandpa, and friend. "God be with you 'til we meet again". Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 1999 at the Kaysville Central Stake Center, 555 North 100 East. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Rd., and from 12:30-1:45 prior to services at the Church. Interment at Kaysville City Cemetery.
