Robert E. "Bob" Belden
Robert E. Bob Belden, 80, of Turin Road, Rome, passed away, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare Center, New Hartford.
He was born June 1, 1930, in Oneonta, New York, the son of Orrin and Mildred Tripp Belden.
Bob was educated in Gilberstville and Morris, New York. On Nov. 10, 1950, he married Jean H. Black in Liverpool, England. Mr.
Mr. Belden was employed by RADC retiring in 1984. Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force for twenty years during World War II in the European Theatre and took part in the Berlin Airlift. He was a life member and served as Past Commander of the Rome VFW Post 2246 and also was a life member of the, Lee American Legion, the Ukrainian Club and the Stanwix Mens Club. Bob enjoyed Fishing, Woodworking and playing cards.
Surviving is his wife, jean, three daughters and a son-in-law, Jacqueline and Michael Cresap, Canastota; Sandra Epperson and Janet Bain, both of Iowa; one son and daughter-in-law, Edwin C. and Linda Belden, Dolgeville; eleven grandchildren, Robert and Cassie Oury, Jason Bain, Karissa, Stephen and Makaila Belden, Justin, Samantha and Scott Shelton, Sarah Cresap, Ann Marie Peterson (Scottie), three great-grandchildren, Aden and Alek Bain, Dayzie Oury and his feline companion, Bobo. Predeceased by a sister, Rose Tiffany.
Friends may call on Saturday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc, 418 N. George Street, Rome.
