Mildred V. Ahrens, 94, died on November 25, 2013 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Married to Leroy T. Ahrens in Elgin in 1937 and celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary before his death in 2012. Children are Carol J. Viola of St. Charles and Kurtis L. (Patricia) Ahrens of Rio Rico, AZ. Millie worked at a number of different occupations including, Elgin National Watch Company, Udina School Cafeteria Cook and Kohl's Lamps. She enjoyed dancing at the Blue Moon, and was always the life of the party. Millie was witty and had a wicked sense of humor. Millie was an avid Cubs fan, keeping track of the pitching rotation and finer points of team management. She and her son-in-law, Leo, spent many hours on the phone discussing the highs and lows of the Cubs. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Anna Schwartz; Spouse: Leroy; two brothers: Ronald Kupitz and Clarence Schwartz; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Mary and Thurburn Ahrens; son-in-law: Leo V. Viola; two sisters-in-law and spouses: Margaret (Irv) Vierig and Mary (Howard) Thomas; and a nephew: Glen Vierig. Surviving are her two children; two grandchildren and spouses: Marcus L. (Darcy) Ahrens and Andrea Stevens; Four great grandchildren: Jake, Ben, John and Matthew; a sister: Barbara (Elroy) Krich; and nieces and nephews.
