|Death: ||Aug. 23, 1827|
The first son of John Ichabod and Lucy Eunice Marshall Pittman's exact birthdate has been established as 1782, the year between his parents marriage and the documented birth of their second son in 1783. Ichabod Byrd was born in a well documented and historically significant time in the life of his parents and grandparents who were pioneers in the expansion of the American Colonies in Georgia in the pursuit of Religious Freedom.
Ichabods mother, Lucy Eunice, was the daughter of Rev. Daniel Marshall the founder of the first Baptist Church in Georgia. Ichabod's father John, and John's colonial parents John and Mary Rowe Pittman were followers and founding members of Daniel Marshall's Kiokee Baptist Church in Columbia County.
Ichabod Byrd Pittman and Francis Jackson Stone were legally married October 12, 1807 under a 'Court of Ordinary' Marriage Bond...a Colonial Period document that was in use until about the 1840's. They were married 20 years when four years after the birth of their fourth child, Ichabod died of unknown causes.
Frances Jackson Stone Pittman remained a widow, and lived another 30 years. At the end of her life she resided with her youngest son, Joseph Marshall Byrd Pittman. She died January 28, 1857 at the age of 74.
