Dr. David Weber, 65, Friends University Professor of Music for 39 Yrs., Passed away January 22, 2012. His memberships include; Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Wichita West Side Rotary and National Association Teachers of Singing.
He is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Hiedi {Scott] Bowen of Wichita; grandchildren Jack, Joy and Jenna Bowen,Visitation is 2 to 9 pm Tuesday with Family present 6 to 8 pm at Resthaven Mortuary.
Funeral services is 10:00 am Wednesday, January 25 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church

David and Linda [Minner] Weber were married August 10, 1974 at the First United Methodist Church in Wichita, Ks.

Dr. David Weber, professor of voice, served as head of the voice department at Friends University. He has been a member of the music faculty since 1973. Dr. Weber taught private voice lessons, music history and vocal pedagogy.
As a performer, Dr Weber has sung with the Cincinnati Opera Company, Brevard Music Center and in Salzburg, Austria He served as an adjudicator throughout the Midwest and is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singers. David served as Minister of music at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Wichita.
In addition to teaching at Friends University, Dr Weber served for 27 yrs. as the director of Concert Choir at Friends. He took the Concert Choir on several tours of Kansas cities, developed the high school master lesson program to help recruit fine arts students, and served as the music director of the University's annual January musical production. He also developed a new course in vocal pedagogy, a two-hour course for music education and vocal performance majors dealing with areas such as breath management, vocal resonance, vowel placement, vocal agility and vocal health.
Dr Weber earned a bachelor of music and Master of music degree in voice performance from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then earned a doctorate of musical arts degree in voice performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He was elected into Phi Kappa Phi in 1987 for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in graduate studies.

David was an accomplished soloist with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Music Theatre of Wichita, Wichita Chamber Choral Society, Hutchinson Oratorio Society, Winfield Oratorio Society and the Salina Symphony. He had also been a soloist at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. For many years, he sang the role of the Evangelist in Friends University's production of Bach's Christmas Oratorio.
