Marie was the 2nd child of 14 children born to Hans Christian Andersen and Minnie Helmina Davidsen Paulsen Andersen.

Marie married Olaf E. Larsen on January 9, 1913. They became the parents of four children, but their final child Gail Marie passed away the day after she was born.

Following an attack of appendicitis on a Sunday morning, January 13, Marie was taken to Paulina Stearns Hospital in Ludington and underwent an operation but after a week of suffering, she passed away. Marie was a young mother of only 34 years of age and sadly left three small children; Alice (10), Elmer (9) and George (3).

Olaf remarried, a woman named Edna M. Frost and they took the kids and set up a home in Saginaw, Michigan which I am sure was painful for Marie's parents and siblings.

Since Marie's headstone says "Sister", it would lead one to suspect that there were unhappy feelings about Olaf neglecting to obtain a headstone for his wife.
