Clarence Poe Cox, 86, a 48-year resident of Warner Robins, died on Aug. 26. Born in Pineview, Cox was a graduate of Mercer University and Southwestern Seminary. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later for 23 years as the first missions' director for Rehoboth Baptist Association until his retirement in 1986. Cox is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jessie Mae Jackson Cox; son, Jackson D. Cox of Milledgeville; daughter, J. Pamela Cox Alexander; sisters, Evie M. Cox Bennett and Sybil Cox Banks; brother, Dewitt T. Cox, Jr; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith E. Cox Casteen, and sister, Oneita U. Cox Mulkey. Cox donated his remains to the Mercer University School of Medicine.
