Birth: Aug. 12, 1842
Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Death: May 19, 1937
Miami-Dade County
Florida, USA

Johanna Zimmerman left her home in Germany and immigrated to the United States, where she met and later married George Oegerle on 24 Sept 1869 in Cuyahoga, Ohio. Their first daughter, Mary, was born there in Apr 1870. They left Ohio by covered wagon for Kansas to settle on a homestead by Upland. Seven more daughters and sons were added to their family; two sons are buried near them, and Bertha (Thompson), Kate (Witt) and Rose (Roediger) are also buried in Highland Cemetery. Daughters Anna and Josephine are buried in Florida.

She moved to Miami, Florida to live near her daughters, Josephine Manley and Anna Callahan in her later years until her death in 1937.

A German epitaph in inscribed on their grave; transcribed it reads, "After passing through much suffering, I am lifted into higher (or highest) joy". They were my great-grandparents and as a child, I helped decorate their graves on Memorial Day. Marguerite Thompson Lindsey
