Doctors at Hackley hospital
said today that Robert Aldinger, 13,
Chicago, who was dead on arrival
at the hospital Friday, died of a
broken neck he apparently suffered
The youth was found unconscious
in his bed at a Boy Scout camp
on Big Blue lake and was rushed
to the hospital by Dr. John Eichenlaub,
the camp physician.
Camp officials said Aldinger was
in apparent good health when he
went to bed Thursday night but
believed he may have fractured his
neck while swimming Thursday
Camp officials said the boy had
a history of rheumatic fever and
at first they believed he had suffered
complications from the disease.
