Middle child of Charles and Lou Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia. Gladys is remembered for making great cakes and wearing many beautiful hats.
Gladys grew up at 9 Prospect Place NE in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Gladys' husband Fernando Gonnella's family lived nearby at 278 Prospect Pl NE. Gladys lived in several houses in Southwest Atlanta as an adult, and her last residence was on Holly Lane in the Toco Hill area of DeKalb County, Georgia.
Mother of Virginia Doris Gonnella Bowen (14 May 1923-18 Oct 2011) and Wayne Edward Gonnella (1924-1992).
