James Clyde Clay, 88, of OKC, passed away Jan. 29, 2012. He was born in Rush Springs, OK June 16, 1923, to Louie Andrew and Alpha Irene (Cast) Clay. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII as a Seabee in the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to OKC and married Ruth Laura Malone. He was employed by Midwest Machine & Compressor Co. for 491/2 years. He was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. He was a member of Grace Community Baptist Church of OKC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie Andrew and Alpha Irene Clay; his wife of 65 years, Ruth Laura Clay; four brothers, Lee, Herbie, Maurice, and Little Britt; four sisters, Edith Nichols, Zelda Skaggs, Irene Colby, and Joan Walker; and two grandchildren, twin boys, James and Erick Matheson. Survivors include three children: Charlotte Jean Hanna, of OKC; Regina Marie Garrison and husband Garry, of Littleton, CO; and Jack Lindell Clay and wife Mala, of OKC; 11 grandchildren: Andrew Matheson and wife Cornelia, Christopher Matheson and wife Trish, Kyle Matheson, Allison Johnson, Lincoln Garrison, Shelly Johnson and husband Kevin, Becky Henderson and husband John, Beth and husband Major Nathan Hendricks of USAF, Britt Clay and wife Lauren, Brooke Clay, and Bryce Clay; 12 great-grandchildren: Tessla Miley; Haley Roberts; Natalie Oller and husband Jonathan; Christopher Danielson; Hayley and Cheyenne Garrison; Weston and Savannah Johnson; Brianna, Nathan, Kinley and James Hendricks, and one due in June, Brightson Clay; one great-great-grandchild, Elyssa Oller; one brother, Leon Clay and wife Marta; two sisters-in-law, Virgie Clay and Willa Clay; and brother-in-law, Jerry Walker. Many thanks to Sooner Hospice, Judy Stonebreaker RN, Margo Flores RN, Louise Cooper HHA, and Cindy Sparks BSW, MHR for attending to our father during his final days.
