Mr. Bobby Gene Arnold, 78, of Anderson, Missouri departed this life on Monday morning, May 23, 2011 at his home.
Gene entered this life on January 26, 1933 in Hoisington, Kansas born to the late Alfred Edward and Rosa Faye (Lacy) Arnold. He came to Anderson, Missouri in 1950 and was a 1951 graduate of Anderson High School. On June 1, 1952 on the hill in Anderson, Missouri he was united in marriage to Bettie Lou Johnson and to this union three daughters were born. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Forward Observer Staff Sergeant from 1952 to 1955. Gene worked as a machinist for Hallmark Cards while attending diesel mechanic school in Kansas City. They moved their young family to Great Bend, Kansas in 1956, where Gene worked as a diesel mechanic for Doonan Motors for ten years. They moved back to Anderson in 1966. He worked as a mechanic for the community at McCracken Motors before operating A&A Fina Service Station in Anderson along with his brother Leon. Gene worked as a self-employed mechanic until the time of his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Bettie Lou Arnold on October 29, 2003; two siblings, Darlene Rose Arnold and Estelle Alfred Arnold; a brother in-law, Fred F. Johnson; and a son in-law, Miguel Angel Terradas.
Gene is survived by his three daughters, Bettie Jean Gilliam and husband, Les, of Anderson, Missouri, Diana Kay Gideon and husband, Larry, of Baxter Springs, Kansas and Shirley Ann Terradas and John Michael Ghezzi of Jesup, Georgia; three grandchildren, Will Terradas, Mary Charlotte Terradas and L.J. Gideon; a great grandson, William Jaden Terradas; a brother, Leon Arnold of Great Bend, Kansas; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Arnold are 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Union Cemetery near Stella, Missouri with Bro. David Munoz officiating.
