DR. STEPHEN HOWARD ALPER
Dr. Stephen Howard Alper, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Bronx, NY, September 23, 1949 the son of the late David Alper and Elaine Dickerman Alper.
Dr. Alper had worked as a Psychiatrist for many years at Rockville Center in New York and recently enjoyed working in customer service with Harris Teeter in Leland. He was a Board member at the Temple of Israel and past president of the Cape Fear Jewish Men's Association. He loved living in rural NC and caring for his many cats.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Pinter Alper, daughters, Melissa Sheahan (William) of East Northport, NY, Debra Alper (Justin Dahlen) of Black Diamond, WA, Melanie Figueroa (Anthony) of Savannah, GA, and Jamie Alper (Cristina) of Bolton, NC, grandchildren, Kaitlyn, William, Connor, and Ryan Sheahan, Hayden and Colton Dahlem, Madison and Colby Figueroa, a brother Stanley Alper (Lynn), stepchildren, William Knapp (Marilyn), Leone Davies (Edward), Susan Louis, and Benjamin Knapp (Jackie), and step grandchildren, Jordan and Brandon Knapp, Eddie Shane, and Kierra Davies, Evan Louis, William and Michaela Knapp.
Funeral services will be held at11 AM, Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Andrews Market Street Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Temple of Israel Cemetery in Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Temple of Israel Building Fund, 1 S. 4th St., Wilmington, NC 28401 or the Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
