Graduated U. S. Naval Academy class of 1953.Submission by his wife Anne to the class 5o Year Lucky Bag for the 50th reunion:
Following graduation, Jack reported to USS Merrick (AKA-97) which was deployed to Pusan, Korea. He next served in USS Tingey (DD-539), and then on the Naval District staff in New Orleans. Tours in USS Ranger (CVA-61), at Naval Station Guam, in USS Henrico (APA-45), in Bahrain as CO, NCSO, were followed by his final assignment at NWS, Seal Beach. He retired in 1970 [LCDR USN Ret]. He then built boats in San Diego for three years and settled in Selma, Oregon...... Jack died in January 2002. He and Anne had a daughter, Patricia, a son, Paul, and three grandchildren, Heather, Sarah, and Adam.
Other info: Jack attended the Naval Academy Prep School in Bainbridge, MD. He was a Seaman in the Navy for 4 years before entering USNA. and his home was listed as Lawton, Okla. He was in the Naval Academy 21st Company. He was born in 1926, a little older than most of us. There is more in Our Class Year Book, "Lucky Bag." The entry with Jack's photo mentions that Jack had a "special sense of humor" and was a "guy who would never lack buddies....you just can't help liking him."
