Vi was born in Alexandria, VA and graduated with a degree in biology from the College of William and Mary, VA in 1943. After graduation she joined the Navy, stationed in Florida where she taught servicemen the effects of low oxygen levels at 10,000 feet above the sea.
June 7, 1945 she married Barton Evans who was also in the Navy. The couple had 3 children, Barton, Bruce and Barbara, then moved to the Pacific Palisades in California in 1953. They were members of St. Matthew’s Church and Vi kept the church records until a computer took it over. She and husband Barton also loved to travel.
After 1979 Vi volunteered at the LAX (Los Angeles Airport) Travelers Aid counter, helping people from all over the world.
