Bobby Junior Allen, 77, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Palliative Care Center Hospice of Catawba Valley, following a period of declining health.

Mr. Allen was born July 21, 1935, in Moore County, to the late Jonah Allen and Mable Brown Allen.

He was retired from Carolina Container with over 35 years of service, and was a member of Winkler's Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Allen Phillips and husband, John, of Mt. Gilead, and Kay Allen Stephens and husband, Jeffrey, of Hickory; two sons, Nick Thorneburg, of Morganton, and Randy Thorneburg, of Hildebran; two sisters, Mitzi Reeder, of Laurinburg, and Judy Perry, of Robbins; two grandchildren, John Michael Phillips II and wife, Virginia, and James Travis Phillips; one great-grandchild, Katherine Dare Phillips; and two former wives, Nancy Wiles Allen and Carol Huffman Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Faulkenbury offici-ating.

Interment will follow in the Winkler's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church.
