Obituary -- Register of Deeds Gove, KS

Jennie Mae Roberts, daughter of W.W. and Sadie A Roberts, was born October 10, 1880 at Mr. Etna, Iowa. Her early girlhood was spent at their farm home near Mt. Etna. She moved to Gove, KS., in 1905 with her parents and some of her brothers and sisters. They settled on a homestead southeast of Gove.

She was united in marriage to Sylvester Allen Beesley of Gove on December 31, 1908.

They lived in their farm home until June of 1960 when they moved to Quinter to make their home. They celebrated their Golden Wedding at their home in 1958.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Allen Beesley on May 20, 1961 at the Gove County Hospital in Quinter.

She, her husband and children joined the Gove Methodist Church in 1926 where she held her membership at the time of her death.

She passed away at the Gove County Hospital in Quinter on July 10 following several years of poor health. She was admitted to the hospital March 23, 1961, where she remained until passing away.

She is survived by five children, Miss Ruth Beesley of Quinter, KS; Wayne Beesley of Gove; Mrs. Harold Siegrist (Ida) of Lawrence, Ks.; Mrs. Lawrence Lowry (Elsie) of Plainville, Ks.; and Gail Beesley of Gove. Two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Wayne Beesley and Mrs. Gail Beesley of Gove and two sons-in-law Harold Siegrist of Lawrence, Ks. and Lawrence Lowry of Plainville, Ks.; and the following grandchildren: Eddie, Carla and Richard Beesley; Linda, Marvin and Jeanette Beesley all of Gove and the following sisters and brothers: Miss Bertha Roberts of Creston, Iowa, Rev. Ida Roberts of Creston, Iowa and Mrs. C.L. Smith of Gove, KS.; Jesse Roberts of Corning, Iowa and L.W. Roberts of Quinter, Ks. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Steven and Daniel and one sister Ethel.

While here on earth she proved a true and trusted frined:God looked down from heaven and abade her suffering end.

Funeral services for Mrs. S.A. (Jennie) Beesley were at Gove Methodist church Wednesday morning, July 12. She was a pioneer Gove County settler who died July 10 at the county hospital, Quinter, following a lingering illness.

Clergyman for the service was Rev. Roger Shanks, with Don Hall in charge of arrangements.

Hymns were sung by Annabelle Coberly, Kay Shanks, Lydia Packard, Wilma Doxon, with Lena Roemer as pianist.

Lois Evans was organist.
