"Minnie Preston Of Arcata Dies.
Mrs. Minnie S. Preston, 75, lifetime resident of Arcata, died Monday in a Eureka hospital. She was born March 8, 1883 in Arcata and received her schooling in Arcata schools.
She was the wife of the late William A[lexander] Preston, who donated the land on which Humboldt State College is constructed. She and Preston had been married 53 years prior to his death in May of this year.
Mrs. Preston was an active member of the Christian Science church of Arcata.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Estelle McDowell, Eureka; sister, Mrs. Olive E. Winters, Englewood, N. J.; niece, Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Phelan, Twenty-nine Palms; nephew T. Starling Winters, Englewood, N. J., and several grand nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from Paul's Funeral Chapel, Mrs. M. C. Warren, Reader, will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery." END
