Clarence Courier, Clarence, Shelby, Missouri 1960: Emmett Nathan Sage, 80, died early Friday morning at his home here after being bedfast since March, 1957, when he fell and broke a hip.
Mr. Sage was born January 14, 1880, in Shelby County, the son of John B. and Sarah Jane Walker Sage. He was united in marriage on Thanksgiving 48 years ago to Mary Fifer Page. To this union one child, Betty Jane Trussell, was born. Mr. Sage had spent most of his life in the Clarence community as a farmer. In 1929 he lost his eyesight in a hunting accident, however, he learned to read Braille which enabled him to while away many hours.
He was a member of the Center Street Methodist Church.
Surviving besides his wife and daughter, are his son-in-law, Harold Trussell; one grandson, Harold Boyce Trussell; and two brothers, Errett Sage of Clarence and Clem Sage of Yakima, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Greening Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. Arthur Hampton and the Rev. Lyle Armstrong. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.
