Girardeau, Mo. At. St. Mary’s Church in Mound
City he married Catherine Genevieve Sweeney
“Katie” born Nov 10th 1910. Died Apr 17th 1995
at Daystar Nursing Home in Cairo Illinois. She was
the daughter of George W. and Catherine Sweeney
of Mound City, Illinois. They lived in Villa Ridge,
IL. Both are buried at Calvary Cemetery in
Villa Ridge, IL.
Edward made a living sharpening saws.
Edward and Catherine were members of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Mound City, IL.
On May 12th 1997 at St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Mound City, IL they held a Funeral
Mass for Edward with Father Bill McGhee
officiating. The Jones Funeral Home of Villa
Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
He was known to me as Uncle Buss: Reason
given that when he was born he was given the
nickname Buster because he was a big baby. He
grew into a big man and the nickname was
shortened Buss. Catherine was known to me as
Aunt Knat: Reason unknown. My mother guesses it was because she was little.
