Logan Wyatt DALE - ages 16 years, 5 weeks - died of Sudden Cardiac Arrest in the front yard of his home near Huntersville, WV after returning from after-school football practice. CPR was done, and he was taken to Pocahontas Memorial Hospital by paramedics, but he never regained vital signs.
Logan was a student at Pocahontas County High School, Dunmore, WV. He was on both the PCHS football and basketball teams.
His parents are: Jerry Lewis DALE and Wilma Jane Wyatt DALE. His older brothers are Evan Garrett DALE and Grant Richard DALE. His paternal grandparents are Richard Muriel DALE and Lou Verna Trent DALE. His maternal grandfather was Troy WYATT and his maternal grandmother was Lottie WYATT. Logan's first name is a family name that came from a paternal ancestor, Chief Logan of the Mingo tribe of Native Americans.
The visitation and the funeral services were handled by the VanReenan Funeral Home in Marlinton, WV. Both were held in the Marlinton Middle School Auditorium/Gym due to the very large size of attendance. Eulogies were given by his oldest brother, Evan Dale, other family members, classmates, and Pocahontas County Schools Staff members. His graveside service was led by Pastor Jerry Moore of the Huntersville (Southern) Baptist Church. His interment was on a hillside below the family home, above the family farm beside which Knapps Creek flows. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial donations be given to Pocahontas County HS Athletic Fund.
In rememberance, one of his first cousins, Morgan Kerry DALE, and Morgan's wife named their first son with "Logan" as his middle name, and on a visit from Montana, planted wildflowers on Logan Wyatt DALE's gravesite.
