"Lee" Morgan was an exceptional Jazz Trumpeter who was shot to death by his common-law wife Helen More. She shot him in the chest killing him within moments while his group was performing at "Slug's" in the East Village of New York City. Morgan was age 33, 7 months and 9 days old when his talent was literally gunned down by his Live-In who was older than he was. Helen More, murdered Lee Morgan with a gun that he had purchased for her very own protection. Helen More was arrested, tried and sentenced then patrolled in 1978. She died at age 69.
Lee Morgan joined Dizzy Gillespies's Big Band at age 18. He began recording on the Blue Note Record Lable in 1956. He recorded 25 albums as a lead
