Connie drowned in the Potomac River after the boat she was riding in capsized. Five other people drowned as well. Her mother was rescued. This tragedy happened while her father was overseas during WWII. Connie was survived by her mother, Genevieve Mae Fahrney Brashears and her father, Marlin Sheldon Brashears.
The funeral was held at the Kraiss Funeral Home along with the funeral of her aunt, June Ella Fahrney Barnes, whom also was a drowning victim. Burial is in Rest Haven Cemetery.
