PINE BLUFF COMMERCIAL THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1997
LITTLE ROCK-- Warren Davis Brainard, 78, of Little Rock, died November 27,
1997, at Little Rock.
He was born on November 7, 1919, at Lincoln, Nebraska, a son of the late
Willis Nathaniel and Florence Davis Brainard.
He was a doctor of veterinary medicine. He attended Lincoln public schools,
the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University. He was in the
Naval Flight Training Program at Pensacola, Florida and graduated as a naval
aviator. He became a 2nd lieutenant in the Marine Corps in 1942. He was a
pilot in a dive bomber squadron in the Pacific, sent with the First Marine
Aircraft Wing. He was a participant in aerial combat in several campaigns
from Guadalcanal and other air bases in the South Pacific.
He received his pre-medical training at Colorado A&M after his military
service. He received his doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of
Missouril, graduating in its first graduating class of veterinary medicine in
1950.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Cain Brainard; three sons, Warren D.

Brainard of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Beverly A. Winne of Pine Bluff; a brother,
Owen W. Brainard of Elwood, Nebraska; a sister, Marion Brainard Smith of Sun
City, Arizona; and 10 grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. November 29, 1997, in Lake Village
Cemetery at Lake Village with the Rev. Paul Hopwood officiating. Arrangements
were handled by Steele Funeral Home at Lake Village and Griffin Leggett Healey
& Roth at Little Rock.
