Edna L. Albert, 74, of Stroud Township, died early Tuesday morning, January 17, at Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital in Bethlehem. She was the widow of Kenneth G. Albert with whom she shared forty years of marriage at the time of his death on January 26, 2003.
Born on June 22, 1937 in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late William and Celestia (Halterman) Hendricks and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
She was a 1956 graduate of East Stroudsburg High School and was active in planning their annual class reunion.
In her early years she worked for Shawnee Press and the Ronson Corporation, both in Delaware Water Gap. Later she was employed by Eberhard Faber and then worked in the medical records department of Pocono Medical Center until retiring.
Edna volunteered at the CLU Social Club for 26 years where she assisted with Thursday night B.I.N.G.O.. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her late husband and they were members of the Pocono Mt. H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) Chapter at Schoch's Harley Davidson. She was involved in many community fundraisers and enjoyed the company of her friends in the "birthday club". She especially enjoyed attending her grandson, Kyle's, Stroudsburg Little League baseball games.
Surviving are a son, Keith Albert and his wife Jennifer (Peer) of Stroudsburg; three grandchildren, Kyle, Chase and Grace (who was born December 6, 2011); a sister, Bertha LaBar of Marshalls Creek; a brother, LeRoy Hendricks of Marshalls Creek and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by four sisters, Sarah Bush, Catherine Miller, Mary Hendricks and Evelyn Compton and a brother, Clayton Hendricks.
There will be visiting hours from 10:00AM to 12:00PM(noon) on Friday, January 20, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. The funeral service will begin at noon Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Harding officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
The family requests that memorial remembrances be made to Stroudsburg Little League, P.O. Box 61, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
