Youngsville, Oct. 19 -- The funeral of Edward Baker, aged 73, was held this afternoon, with a service by Pastor Straub at the Reformed church, of which Mr. Baker was a member, and burial in Greenhill cemetery by Ramsay of Liberty.

Mr. Baker, who had been suffering heart attacks the past year, was taken by another spell after walking in the yard and entering the kitchen of his home on the Sand Pond road Tuesday afternoon about 4 o'clock. He expired as his wife, by his side, thought he was going to sleep in the chair.

Mr. Baker was born in the former Clericus house in Youngsville Dec. 22, 1871, one of eight children of Ludwig Baker and Margaret Hingel, natives of Germany. His father died when Ed was four years old. A year later the family moved to the Felix Manny Sr., farm, when the mother became the wife of Mr. Manny. Ed succeeded to the farm and proved an industrious and progressive farmer. On Sept. 3, 1908, Ed took for his wife and helpmeet Miss Elizabeth Krugel, a New York dressmaker, who had spent summer vacations in this area. The wedding was at the home of the bride. They built a new house on the farm here and Mrs. Baker proved an industrious and careful housewife. Two sons survive with the mother -- Edward, plumber at White Sulphur Springs, and Charles, who built a house on the farm a few year ago. There are three grandchildren. Mr. Baker also leaves a sister, Mrs. Lilliam Zwick, 76, of New Haven, who is the last of the eight children of Ludwig Baker.

Miss Margaret Krugel of Ridgefield Park, N.J., came for the funeral and to spend a few days with her sister, Mrs. Baker.
