Samuel Castle was the son of Daniel Castle. He spent his first 30 years in NY State and was an early settler of Palma NY.
On March 3, 1811, he married Lucetta Gridley. They had several children in Tioga County NY before moving to the Springfield area of PA, where he was the first postmaster at West Springfield.
In their later years, he and his wife moved to Buchanan County IA, where at least one of their children had settled. In 1862, Samuel became the postmaster at Castleville, just outside of Buffalo, IA.
Samuel Castle lived 80 years and 23 days.
