Ida was the daughter of Ambrose Bousquet and Amanda (Morrisseau) of Plattsburgh, NY. Ambrose was a stone mason and bricklayer who moved the family to Duluth, Minnesota presumably for the work. They had 6 children before he died at the age of about 38, as a result of Typhoid. Ida's Mother Amanda became a seamstress for support, along with the oldest child, 13 year old Amanda (jr). The other 5 (including Ida) went into an orphanage as Amanda could not care for them all.
Ida, at 18 years old, married Anthony Gilsoul in 1906, and they had 5 children. She died very young, at the age of 29, of complications resulting from failed childbirth. Anthony worked on the railroad so their children spent time in an orphanage also.
