John H. Allen, 79, died June 27, 1999, at his home. Born in Campbell County, February 7, 1920, he was the son of the late Marshall and Lousia Collins Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded also in death by one son, Johnny Allen; one daughter-in-law, two grandsons; two brothers, and four sisters. He was a member and deacon of Capital Hill Baptist Church, and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Alene Allen; sons: Joe Allen and wife, Patsy, and Robert Allen and wife, Anna; daughters: Barbara Jeffers and husband, Thermon, Judy Baird and husband, Roger, and Jean West and husband, Mike; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one brother, Evertt Allen; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Wilson and Amy Albertini; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives. Funeral service is to be conducted July 1, 1 p.m., at Captial Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Massengale, Rev. Tommy Burress, and Rev. Eli Crowley officiating. Music is to be provided by Captial Hill Church Choir. Interment is to follow in Allen Cemetery. The family was to have received friends June 30, 1999, from 6 9 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
