Homer Albers Was born March 28, 1929 in Keokuk Iowa, to William Edward Albers and Adelaide Albers of Warsaw, IL.
Homer is survived by his wife of 62 years Marcene Albers, four of his sons and their wives: Randy (Julie), Bill (Sande), Joe (Linda), Jeff (Kim); nine grandchildren; Chris (Tiffani), Ashley, Jordon (Mallorie), Brady, Alexandria, Jesse (Sarah), Joel, JT, Tori, and four great grandchildren: Brayden, Levi, Jackson, and Cambrie.
Homer was preceded in death by his oldest son Steve who is survived by Steve's wife Donna.
Homer served in the Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart for combat injuries. Following the war, Homer graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, and then worked for a number of years at the local newspaper as sports writer and in advertising sales. Immediately following the birth of his fifth son, Homer made the bold move west with his large, young family, relocating to Longview, Washington and taking on a new career as district manager for the Equitable Life Assurance Society.
In 1969 he moved the family to Tacoma, and later relocated to Gig Harbor. He retired from Equitable after 30 years. Over the years and into retirement he enjoyed traveling, gardening, boating, The Gig Harbor Navy League and above all, spending time with his growing family.
He meant the world to us. He will be dearly missed, but needless to say, he left his mark on this world and his family legacy will endure.
Memorial services to take place Friday, December 13 at 1 PM at the Haven of Rest Memorial Park, 8503 SR 16 NW, Gig Harbor.
