Mary Emma Cox was born in Tuskegee, Al to James Robert and Jewel Ophelia (Jackson) Cox on 9 Sept 1910. She graduated from Newnan High School in Newnan, Ga.
On 2 March 1940 she married Arley M Fetters in Pascagoula, Ms. They were married for 53 years.
In Jan 1944 a daughter, Carolyn, was born.
The family moved to Birmingham, Alabama (Hoover area) in 1948 where she lived until her death. She was a longtime member of Shades Crest Baptist Church in Bluff Park, Hoover.
She is survived by her husband, Arley; daughter, Carolyn F. Howton; grandson, Mark A. Howton of Huntsville, Al and two granddaughters, Amy J. and Audra B. Howton of Hoover, Al; a sister, Edna R. Cox of Homewood, Al and two brothers, James E. Cox of Birmingham and William L. (Bill) Cox of Columbus, Ga. Also, three nephews, James W. Cox of Birmingham; Robert E. Cox of Columbus, Ga and D. Mark Cox of New York, NY and many other relatives and friends.
