Audrey was my aunt, my father's younger sister. She taught me how to stand up straight; she talked my father into letting me go away for college; she was interested in what I had learned during five months in Mexico.

Audrey married Stewart Barber on June 30, 1934. They lived in Alameda, Oakland, and Sebastopol, California. Their house in Oakland was a large Victorian with a sun room off the dining room, where she had three looms. Her home was a wonderful place for family gatherings during the holidays. In Sebastopol she and Stewart had an azalea nursery and hybridized their own plants. They had one son and one daughter.
