Vera Mae was born to Cephes/Sephes Ward and Sophia Bernette Sands in Boston, Madison County, Arkansas April 1905. Her parents were farmers with 7 children total...mostly girls. Vera didn't not appear in the 1920 Census with them when they had moved to Oklahoma.
Family sources say Vera married Theodore Franklin Burchfield in Texas Sept 1922. Likewise, Ted didn't appear in any 1920 Census probably because he was a "Wildcatter". They appear together in subsequent Census records in Lincoln, Okmulgee and Creek Counties, Oklahoma. His Occupation was an oil field pumper.
The couple had five sons. He died April 1953 in a tragic accident. Was caught & crushed by the counter balance of a pumping oil well. Fortunately, their youngest son was 20 years old.
27 Jan 1956, she re-married also widowed Hobson Dewey Bankston in Kay County, Oklahoma. They lived in Arkansas City, Kansas, where he was a warehouse clerk for Ramey-Davis. As there is no source, I assume both died there. She predeceased him 1966 and was buried with her 1st husband. Likewise, when he died, was buried with his 1st wife. JT
