Reathel was around 5'3" tall with a medium frame and very shiney, dark brown eyes. She always died her hair red so I don't know her true color of hair. Reathel was very easy to get along with and walked all over or rode the bus. She never learned to drive a car and didn't show any interest.
Her maiden name was Collins. She is buried with her husband Harold James Phillips. He was Catholic and she was Methodist but later in life she became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LDS like her son and daughter in law.
Harold and Reathel had one son named Robert Lee Phillips who was born 1939 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They came to Oakland, California when the son was very young, under five years old. The pet names that they called their son were Bobby and Butch.
She was very close to her daughter in law, Julie, and they did a lot of things together. She was next door neighbors to Julie's mother, Theoda Jensen, and they were good friends and would shop, eat and go to church together and come and visit family.
She worked at Foss Lampshade Studios in Oakand near her home for 30 years. She had many friends there. The studio has since moved to another location in Oakland.
Reathel died of colon cancer. Other than the cancer, she was in very good health. She retired when she become to ill from the cancer to work. She died in her son and daughter in law's home in Pleasanton, California where they took care of her during her last days.
From the one son, Robert ( Bob, there are 13 grandchildren (seven males, six females)and three great grandsons as of 2013.
