John was married to Alyce Josephine Van Scoyk in Crandall, Kan., on June 18, 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maybelle Harreld and one brother, Max Briles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, John Franklin Briles Jr. of Emporia, Kan., Noah J.
