Born in Jackson, MS, she married Leonard Ervin Mitchell of Riverside, AL, in Rule, TX. During her life, there, she gave birth to Luther Edwin and Jewel Ambria. They moved to Silver City, NM, where she gave birth to Mildred Lois, Raymond Claud and James LeRoy. She and Leonard divorced in the early 1940's and she then married Samuel C Pruit (dates unknown at this time).

Obituary:
PRUIT: Mrs. Clara A. Pruit, 78, passed away at Hillcrest Hospital Friday morning following an extended illness. Mrs. Pruit was a native of Lafayette County, Miss. and had lived in Silver City for the past 54 years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Thomas of Silver City and Mrs. Jewel Pearse of Williams, Calif.; three sons, Luther Mitchell of Bayard, Raymond Mitchell of Silver City, and James Mitchell of Albuquerque, 14 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lovada Boyd of Snyder, Tex.; and one brother, Leonard Singleton of Haskell, Tex. Funeral services will be held in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Donald Brent of the First Baptist Church of Silver City officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery.
