Lars was son to Borghild Lievsdtr Aarhus and Ole Gabrielson Kilen.
He was half brother of Lief Aarhus Olson.
He emigrated to the United States in either 1877 or 1878. In 1878 he was one of the 15 founders of the Fountain Lutheran Church in Fountain Township , Juneau County, Wisconsin. This church was formed of people who broke away from the West Lemonweir Lutheran Church.
He married Anna Jacobson Oct 15, 1880, the first couple to marry in the Fountain Church .
They had 6 children. These children were: Bertha Serine, Jakob, Jacob, Bert, Leven Bernhard, and Hilda Aarhus. The last names were sometimes Olson. (son Bert was listed at his cemetery as Bert Olson)
Lars and Anna moved out to North Dakota for a time, leaving in 1906 but returned in 1915. 1920 found Lars living on a farm with son Levin (Louis) in Fountain Township.
His wife Anna died in 1907 and on March 30 1922 , Lars married to Inger Egdal in Elroy, by the minister from the Fountain church.
